Dr. Niloofar Tavakoli, Licensed Psychologist in Houston, Texas

I’m Dr. Niloofar Tavakoli, a Houston-based psychologist with over nine years of experience helping individuals improve their mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology, all from the University of Houston. As a Licensed Psychologist in Texas and PSYPACT-certified provider, I offer telehealth therapy to clients across Texas and in more than 43+ additional states.

In addition to my clinical practice, I offer consultation, supervision (both at the master's and doctoral levels), and training to clinicians, supporting professionals at all stages of their careers. I also offer AI consulting for companies working with large language models (LLMs). I help organizations and practitioners thoughtfully integrate AI by combining technical understanding with psychology-informed, ethical practices so their use of AI is not only effective, but responsible and human-centered.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic style is warm, authentic, and collaborative, with an emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I integrate mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients reduce emotional suffering, cultivate resilience, and build a life aligned with their values.

Dr. Tavakoli specializes in evidence-based treatment for:

Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress

Personal and Professional Values

Originally from Iran, my personal acculturation journey deeply shapes the way I approach my work. I value cultural sensitivity, genuine human connection, and presence as the foundation of meaningful and effective care. I strive to create a space where individuals feel seen, understood, and supported as they show up as their whole selves.

If you are seeking a compassionate and culturally responsive psychologist in Houston or are interested in supervision, professional training, or care, I offer personalized support designed to help you reflect, grow, and thrive. I provide telehealth services to Texas residents and am PSYPACT certified to serve individuals in over 43 states.

Personal Interests

Outside of my work, I enjoy slowing down and taking care of myself in ways that feel grounding and nourishing. Strength training and Pilates help me stay centered, while exploring global cuisine, trying new smoothie recipes, and traveling to warm destinations bring me joy and curiosity. I also love unwinding with a good crime drama and spending meaningful, unhurried time with loved ones, which helps me recharge and stay present.
